Lumen Switcher User Manual

Local rough-cut: drop silence, drop still frames, optionally mute words from your lexicon, then export an MP4 or a timeline for DaVinci Resolve / Final Cut Pro. Analysis stays on the machine.

1. What it does

Built for talking-head, course, meeting, and similar rough cuts—not color grading. Three independent tools:

• Silent segments — audio below the threshold is rejected (grey).
• Still frames — near-static picture is rejected (grey).
• Profanity / sensitive words — optional. Speech is recognized on device and matched only to your lexicon. Hits are purple on the waveform; preview can mute or mark only.

After analysis, play Source or Skip Preview (skips grey; purple follows the action you picked), then export MP4 or FCPXML.

2. Install and trial

• Windows: prefer Microsoft Store so SmartScreen does not flag the app. The website .exe may show “Windows protected your PC”—click More info, then Run anyway.
• macOS: download the website .dmg (Apple Silicon). Open it and drag Lumen Switcher to Applications. This build is notarized, so Gatekeeper should not block it.
• 30-day calendar trial from first launch. Time counts while the PC is off. Reinstalling does not reset the trial.
• During the trial, analysis and export work. After expiry you can still import and play; analysis and export lock until you bind a purchased key.
• Profanity detection needs ggml-tiny.bin next to the app.

3. Import and play

1. Import MP4 / MOV / MKV / AVI / TS.
2. The inspector shows name, path, resolution, and duration.
3. The center player plays the source. The waveform fills in during analysis.
4. Unsupported files get an error instead of a crash.

4. Silence and still-frame slicing

Cut behavior is the checkboxes on the right—not a separate “slice mode” in Settings.

• Silence only — cut by audio. A talking freeze-frame stays; moving picture with no voice goes.
• Still only — cut by picture. A talking freeze-frame goes; silent motion stays.
• Both — keep only spans that have voice and motion.
• Neither — no A/V cut. The full duration stays; you can still enable profanity.

Start/end padding keeps a little room around keep segments. Silence and motion thresholds are in Settings. After you change checks or padding, click Re-analyze; skip-preview duration updates as soon as analysis finishes.

5. Profanity detect and mute

1. Check Profanity / sensitive words.
2. Choose Mute or Mark only.
3. Analyze. Matching is longest-phrase against your list only.

• One word per line, or commas. Longer phrases win.
• Switching the UI language does not swap the list. Reset list loads the factory list for the current UI language.
• Chinese factory list is Chinese-only. Add fuck / shit yourself if you need them.
• The engine does not inject a hidden English core list.

The bundled tiny model can miss or over-hit mixed speech. Drag purple edges on the waveform, or fix audio gaps in Resolve.

6. Waveform, preview, fixes

• Green keep · grey reject · purple profanity · orange manual edge.
• Time ticks sit under the waveform.
• Source plays the file clock. Skip Preview jumps grey. Mute makes purple silent with picture still on screen.
• Drag purple edges with the left button. Marks appear when analysis ends—no need to press play first.

7. Export video and timeline

Export video (MP4)

Fast remux at keyframes, or precise re-encode. Grey stays out of the file. Purple is silent in the file if you chose Mute.

Export timeline (FCPXML and similar)

For DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut. A muted swear is a video-only clip (no audio), named like Profanity_N. Stretch or restore audio in the NLE if the hit was wrong—no need to re-export from Lumen unless you want to.

8. Settings

• Theme and UI language (Chinese / English / Japanese / Korean / Spanish). The UI updates on Apply or OK.
• Silence threshold (dB) and motion threshold.
• Profanity lexicon, Reset list, Restore defaults.
• Paste a license key and bind the device.

9. Trial expiry and activation

The title bar shows days left. After expiry:

• Import and playback still work.
• Analyze is disabled (“Analysis Locked”).
• Export is disabled.

Bind a purchased key in Settings. One fingerprint per machine. Uninstalling does not restart the 30-day clock.

10. FAQ

English swears were not muted

They are not in the current list. The Chinese factory list has no English words. Add them and re-analyze.

Analysis feels slow

Profanity runs a local model in windows on CPU. Silence/motion-only scans are much faster.

Resolve still plays the swear

That clip should have no audio and a profanity name. A continuous audio track means this FCPXML was not imported, or Mute was not selected at export.
